Monsterville: An art show by Nite Gallery

at Bear and Bird South Florida.
A note from the artist: My name is Joshua Lopez a.k.a. Nite Gallery or Nite and I was born and raised in Miami. My love for drawing started as soon as I was created in a lab. As a little kid, I would make comics featuring superheroes fighting Dracula and other monsters, and I’d doodle on the sides of my notebooks while not paying attention in class. I’ve always had a love for Halloween, monsters, and all things spooky. I crawl out of my coffin the moment I feel that crisp fall air and catch the scent of a freshly carved jack-o’-lantern.
Monsterville is an idea that’s been rolling around in my brain for a while. Some of my favorite books growing up were Halloween search-and-find books and Dr. Seuss’s There’s a Wocket in My Pocket. I used to love the artwork and all the little scenarios happening on each page. They inspired me to create this spooky yet lighthearted town. This art show introduces a few of its residents and highlights different locations favored by our spooky guide and friend—Batty!
